Product Diagnosis and Testing Procedures

Checking the Operation of a CST-1 (P) or (SP) Repeat Cycle Timer

Procedure

Check to see that the knobs are properly aligned with the dial face increments. Turn both knobs counter clockwise and make sure that the knobs tick mark lines up with the minimum setting marks. This is to make sure that the knobs have not been twisted out of alignment. If misaligned use a very small slotted screwdriver to loosen knob and realign.

Assuming this is OK lets do a quick test.  If your model has a photo sensor make certain sufficient light is present to satisfy the sensor. The sensor has a 10 second delay to prevent incidental switching. Use a flash light or other intense light if you are uncertain about the available light in your immediate area for testing purposes.

With adequate light and the unit on the left indicator light should be illuminated showing that there is power to the left outlets. Put the "Off Time" (left dial) to the minimum setting of 7 minutes (dial all the way ccwise) and put the "On Time" (right dial) at about 10 or 15 seconds. Now turn the red rocker switch "off and on" to reset the timer and cause it to manually function. It should come on immediately and the indicator light should switch to the right side for the duration of the 15 second "on" period and then switch back to the left side. This test will verify if the timer function is working properly.

Description of CDDS-2 OPL (Over-shoot Protection Logic)
After initial power up the CDDS-2 waits for about 2.5 minutes then starts to inject. During this initial inject there are no limits. The CDDS-2 leaves the injector on until the concentration reaches the setpoint or hell freezes over, which ever comes first.

Once the setpoint concentration is reached, the CDDS-2 shuts the injector off.

It then waits 2.5 minutes and begins comparing the actual concentration to the setpoint. As soon as the concentration falls below the setpoint, the CDDS-2's fuzzy logic algorithm adjusts the injection length based on the current CO2 concentration and hysteresis setting, and turns the injector on. The fuzzy logic algorithm ensures that the injection length is between 10 seconds and 15 minutes.

The injector stays on for the current injection length, unless the CO2 concentration rises to within the hysteresis band of the setpoint, in which case the injection is shut off immediately. The process then returns to the beginning of the previous paragraph.

The two limit conditions on the algorithm are:

Set-up in the great outdoors or in a very large room with all its windows open, the CDDS-2 will ultimately be on for 15 minutes, then off for 2.5 before turning on again.

Set-up in a very small air-tight room with a large CO2 generator the CDDS-2 will ultimately be on for 10 seconds and off until the CO2 concentration falls below the setpoint.

The logic does not need to re-calculate if you unplug it. It will assume that it is being put back in the same environment and will respond according to its previous recognition. If you move the controller into a different enclosure you will need to reset it to learn the new environment. See procedure on this page: RESET

Returning Products for Exchange or Repair

If you are sure that the unit is not working as suggested above then something has gone wrong. If the unit failed right out of the box you can exchange the unit at your dealer for a new one. If the unit was working properly and has now failed, your dealer can arrange to have it returned for warranty repair. Alternately you can directly contact our return dept for an RMA number and send it to us for service.
